Then, Sunlight and Shadow went through the transformational process of revisions with our amazing and very pregnant editor, Laura Cifelli who was rapidly approaching her due date-now there's a deadline! (Sue went over final edits with Laura in a two-hour phone call while Laura breathed through her Braxton-Hicks contractions. Since Sue is a nurse and Laura had already had one child, neither got too distracted!) With only 4 weeks to rewrite 400 plus pages, all three of us were pushing to get this baby out!
Rose Hilliard, Laura's fabulous assistant, kept everything on track while Laura had her baby and took a little well-earned time off.
Meanwhile, Mare and I keep working our full-time jobs even as the writing career demands more and more of our time and energy (see-you don't get instantly rich and famous just because your wildest dream came true!) Now we are at the point of our book's imminent release, amidst all the flurry of activity pinching ourselves to remember to breathe and enjoy this miraculous unfoldment.
This gorgeous website is designed by Kathleen
Gens of The GreatE-scape. Our hardworking pair
of publicists: at NAL, the lovely Shannon Sharpe
who does not play football for the Denver Broncos
(someone with her name apparently does)-we don't
know how she'd find the time, anyway. And our
ball of energy local publicist, Karen Villanueva
who keeps us all on track, getting the word out,
arranging appearances and press releases (too
many vital functions to list here)-we don't know
what we'd do without her except lose our minds
and descend into obscurity!
From our terrific agent, Sandy Choron and all the talented and wonderful women we mentioned, we are fortunate to have such a team of women all working to bring our book to you. Fitting somehow, since it all started with two women.
We will be updating this page as we embark on this the next phase in the life of our novel, our lives as best friends, writers and women.
It's been a magical, mind-blowing, soul-shaking trip and now we get to invite you along for the ride!
See you soon!
